Your privacy is important to GM Cruise LLC d/b/a Cruise Automation ("Cruise") as is your trust in Cruise. We want you to know that the information you share with us will be treated with care. This Privacy Statement addresses the personal information that we collect and how we handle the personal information shared with us.
This Privacy Statement applies to personal information we obtain from and about individuals interacting with Cruise via the website located at www.getcruise.com (the "Website"), Cruise’s various social media pages, or direct interaction with Cruise employees.
Section "Privacy Statement for Cruise Job Applications" below applies only to individuals that have applied for employment with Cruise and throughout the Cruise hiring process.
This Privacy Statement does not apply to personal information we obtain from individuals interacting with Cruise products, vehicles, services or mobile applications, which are governed by separate privacy statements.
As you interact with Cruise, you may provide us with your information through a number of sources including, but not limited to: forms on the Website, Cruise events, surveys, social media platforms, sweepstakes entries and through our call centers and email accounts.
The types of information that Cruise collects about you may include, but are not limited to:
contact information (such as name, address, city, state and ZIP code, email address and telephone number)
information about your device and how you interact the Website (such as IP address, browser type, and unique device identifier)
We may combine information that we receive from the various sources described in this Privacy Statement, including third-party sources, with information you provide and use or share it for the purposes identified below.
The information Cruise collects about you may be used:
to operate the Website
to provide customer service
to provide information you request
for marketing purposes
to customize and improve communication content
to comply with legal requirements
Cruise may share the information it collects about you in the following instances:
as required by law, such as in conjunction with a subpoena, government inquiry, litigation, dispute resolution or similar legal process
when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud or respond to a law enforcement request
with our services providers who work on our behalf and who do not have an independent right to use the information to which they have access or that we disclose to them
with service providers with whom we partner for Cruise marketing activities, business partner marketing activities or both
in connection with the sale, transfer or financing of a significant part of a Cruise business or its assets, including any such activities associated with a bankruptcy proceeding
within Cruise, and with the General Motors Family of Companies (including General Motors Company, OnStar, LLC, Maven Drive LLC, and affiliates) ("GM")
Apart from the purposes listed above, Cruise will not share information about you with other third parties for their independent use without your permission.
Cruise uses administrative, technical and physical security to protect the personal information we maintain and to help ensure that it is used according to this Privacy Statement.
The Website may use "cookies" and other tracking technologies to gather information about your visit (such as demographic data, browser type, IP address, pages visited, activities conducted on the page, and the day and time of your visit). Cookies remember user preferences and maximize the performance of our website and services.
Similarly, we may also place Web beacons in our emails to measure the effectiveness of our email campaigns by identifying the individuals who open or act upon an email message, when an email message is opened, how many times an email message is forwarded, the type of software, device, operating system and browser used to deliver the email and any URL accessed through our email message.
To measure site activity, provide a better user experience, and tailor our marketing communications, we or our service providers or business partners may compile information from the cookies, Web beacons or other technologies on our websites. At this time, we do not honor "do not track" signals from a web site browser. However, you may refuse or delete cookies. The Website may contain links to third-party websites that are not owned or controlled by Cruise. Cruise has no control over, and assumes no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party websites. We recommend that you check the Privacy Statement of other sites you visit before providing any personal information. In addition, Cruise will not and cannot censor or edit the content of any third-party site. By clicking on links, you expressly relieve Cruise from any and all liability arising from your use of any third-party site, or from the content of any third-party site.
Cruise web sites do not target or knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13.
If you are a California resident you have the right to request information from Cruise regarding the manner in which Cruise shares certain categories of your personal information with third parties, for the third parties’ direct marketing purposes. California law provides that you have the right to submit a request to Cruise at its designated address and receive the following information:
The categories of information Cruise disclosed to third parties for the third parties’ direct marketing purposes during the preceding calendar year; and
The names and addresses of third parties that received such information, or if the nature of their business cannot be determined from the name, then examples of the products or services marketed.
You are entitled to receive a copy of this information in a standardized format and the information will not be specific to you individually. You may make such a request by emailing email@example.com.
Cruise’s hiring process consists of multiple steps designed to evaluate your skills and qualifications for a particular position. When you choose to participate in the Cruise hiring process, you will be asked to provide Cruise with personal information about yourself. The personal information that you provide will be used to match your skills and interest to Cruise job requirements. Your personal information will also be used to contact and identify you throughout the hiring process.
The following are examples of personal information that may be collected in the hiring process:
Driving history (only if the position requires)
Race and ethnicity (only if required by law)
Health Information (only if required by law
Government Issued ID (only be collected if an offer of employment is extended to you)
The information that you share with Cruise may be used by Cruise’s service providers and GM exclusively for the purposes of administering services in the Cruise hiring process. We will not share your personal information with other third parties for their independent use without your permission. However, nothing in this Privacy Statement prevents the disclosure of your personal information for legal compliance, or in response to government inquiries. Additionally, nothing in this Privacy Statement prevents the use of the legal process by Cruise or other parties.
It should be recognized that data transmission over the internet or data storage systems is not a 100% secure therefore, no company can perfectly protect personal information.
We will retain your personal information for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this section unless longer retention is required by law or for auditing purposes. If after submitting your application you agree to be included in our applicant pool, then your data may be stored for a longer period of time.
Except as required by law, we do not collect or process any sensitive personal information (e.g., information concerning religion, racial, ethnic origin, political opinions or other beliefs, union affiliation or activities, health, sexuality, criminal administrative proceedings or sanctions) as part of our hiring process. Therefore, we ask that you do not disclose or otherwise send this information through our website or directly to Cruise, unless specifically asked pursuant to a legal requirement to which Cruise is subject.
This Privacy Statement does not constitute a contract between Cruise and any job applicant.
